SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Ethel Gene Behrens of Bunker Hill, who 
4passed away on April 22, 2020; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Ethel Behrens was born in Eldorado to Vern J. 
6Gidcumb and Ethel R. (Seitz) Gidcumb on June 15, 1923; she 
7married Charles "Chuck" Behrens; she earned her master's degree 
8in Educational Administration from Southern Illinois 
9University Edwardsville; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Ethel Behrens was a teacher and then served as the 
11principal at Wolf Ridge School in Bunker Hill; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Ethel Behrens was preceded in death by her 
13parents; her spouse; her grandchild, Greta Ann Behrens; four 
14sisters; and one brother; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Ethel Behrens is survived by her children, Steve 
16(Cathy) Behrens and Ann (Leroy) Brakhane; her grandchildren, 
17Dr. Bradley Brakhane, Kristin (Ken) Cruz, and Josh (Beth) 
18Behrens; her great-grandchildren, Molly Brakhane, Libby 
19Brakhane, Mark Brakhane, Emily Cruz, Abby Cruz, Ethan Bruhn, 
20Gavin Heubner, and Grant Heubner; and many nieces and nephews; 
21therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3Ethel Gene Behrens and extend our sincere condolences to her 
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
5further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Ethel Behrens as an expression of 
8our deepest sympathy.
