| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Phyllis June Spurney of Sawyerville, who |
| 4 | | passed away on March 15, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Spurney was born in Sawyerville to James |
| 6 | | D. Taylor and Alice (Douglass) Taylor on June 30, 1930; she |
| 7 | | married Joseph Spurney Jr., and he preceded her in death on |
| 8 | | April 1, 1996; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Spurney was the manager of the Illinois |
| 10 | | Secretary of State Driver Service Facility in Carlinville; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Spurney previously served as the mayor of |
| 12 | | Sawyerville for 40 years; she was the former chairwoman of the |
| 13 | | Macoupin County Democratic Party; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Spurney was a member of the VFW Ladies |
| 15 | | Auxiliary of Mt. Olive and the United Methodist Church of |
| 16 | | Benld; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Spurney was preceded in death by her |
| 18 | | parents; her spouse; her sons, David Spurney and Daryl Spurney; |
| 19 | | and her sister, Ava Bray; and
