SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rosemarie Schliesske of Oak Park, who
4passed away on October 13, 2019 at the age of 81; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske was born in Wuppertal,
6Germany to Adele and Max Jung on March 29, 1938; she was the
7youngest of four daughters and was affectionately known as
8"Rosi"; she attended grade school in Germany during World War
9II and trade school after the war; when she was 19, she
10immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; she married Horst
11Schliesske; they moved to Chicago before settling in Oak Park,
12where they raised their three children and her niece Aliza and
13fostered two children, Lisa and David; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske worked at many clerical and
15administrative jobs to help support her family until she became
16the office manager for Genesis Management in Oak Park;
17alongside her husband, she later became a small business owner,
18building a property management company; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske was committed to her faith
20and was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church and then Calvary
21Memorial Church; she later attended Willow Creek Community
22Church; and

1    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske was known as a selfless and
2generous person; together with her husband, she opened her home
3to children who could not live with their own families; she
4also provided financial support through World Vision to
5children who were restricted by poverty; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske had many different hobbies
7and was an avid crafter; she began breeding Coton de Tulears
8after her last child left home; she enjoyed attending her
9weekly Sunday morning church services, receiving visits from
10her children and grandchildren, and making her annual road trip
11to Florida with her husband; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske was preceded in death by her
13sisters, Lotte Halbach and Marlis Dahiem; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske is survived by her husband of
1554 years, Horst Schliesske; her children, Heidemarie, Andrew,
16and Judith (David) Schliesske Waters; her grandchildren,
17Armando, Ryan, Declan, and Grayson; her sister, Sigrid
18Robinson; her niece, Aliza Hutchinson; and many other nieces
19and nephews; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Rosemarie Schliesske and extend our sincere condolences to her
2family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
3further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Rosemarie Schliesske as an
6expression of our deepest sympathy.
