|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Denise Ellen St. Peters of Godfrey, who |
4 | | passed away on April 15, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was born in Alton to Donald and |
6 | | Dorothy (Collins) St. Peters on September 18, 1951; she |
7 | | attended Marquette High School and graduated from Blackburn |
8 | | College in Carlinville with a degree in business; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters had a long career in nursing |
10 | | home administration and adult day care and veterans care |
11 | | management in the Alton and St. Louis areas; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters continued to be a strong |
13 | | advocate for the elderly after retirement; she volunteered with |
14 | | the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), running |
15 | | seminars for seniors and lobbying on their behalf in |
16 | | Springfield; and |
17 | | WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was active in the Alton Junior |
18 | | League and served on the board of Madison County Catholic |
19 | | Charities; she volunteered at the YWCA, the Oasis Women's |
20 | | Center, and St. Ambrose Catholic Church; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was affectionately know as |
2 | | "Nesie" by her family; she loved doing crafts, refinishing |
3 | | furniture, decorating, antiquing, and going to sales; family |
4 | | was very important to her, and she will always be remembered |
5 | | for her kind heart, her sense of fun, and her willingness to |
6 | | help anyone, anytime; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was preceded in death by her |
8 | | parents; her uncle, Virgil St. Peters; her brother-in-law, Rick |
9 | | Watts; and her sister-in-law, Jackie St. Peters; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters is survived by her siblings and |
11 | | their spouses, Don and Gerry St. Peters, Darlene Watts, Dale |
12 | | and Nancy St. Peters, Doug St. Peters, and Danelle St. Peters; |
13 | | 16 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and |
14 | | her close friends from grade school, Mary Hoekstra, Judy |
15 | | Peipert, and Jan Dorsey; therefore, be it
|
16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
18 | | Denise Ellen St. Peters and extend our sincere condolences to |
19 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
20 | | further
