| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Andrew James "Drew" Adams of Champaign, |
| 4 | | who passed away on May 30, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Drew Adams was born in Bloomington to Prudence and |
| 6 | | Harold Adams on September 7, 2001; as a kid, he loved Bob the |
| 7 | | Builder, Spider-Man, chocolate milk, Pop-Tarts, and Oreos; he |
| 8 | | attended Barkstall Elementary School and Franklin Middle |
| 9 | | School; he graduated from Champaign Central High School in |
| 10 | | 2020; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, During his four years at Champaign Central High |
| 12 | | School, Drew Adams was a three-year varsity letter winner in |
| 13 | | both football and baseball; he received the Senior |
| 14 | | Scholar-Athlete Award and the 2019 Central Football Piranha |
| 15 | | Award (leading tackler); he was the 2019 Big 12 All-Conference |
| 16 | | defensive back and was invited to play in the 30th annual Order |
| 17 | | of the Eastern Star of Illinois All-Star football game; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Drew Adams was enrolled in the Parkland Pathway |
| 19 | | Program, where he was going to major in agribusiness, markets, |
| 20 | | and management; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Drew Adams was an active member of Faith United |
|

| 1 | | Methodist Church; he spent the last three years volunteering on |
| 2 | | the church's Appalachian Service Project mission team; and |
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Drew Adams always enjoyed sports, both as a player |
| 4 | | and as a spectator; he was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, |
| 5 | | the Rams, and the Illini; he could often be found at Illini |
| 6 | | sporting events with his family and friends; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Drew Adams was affectionately known as "Pop-Tart" |
| 8 | | among family and friends; he was an avid shoe collector and |
| 9 | | video gamer; he had an infectious smile and loved having fun; |
| 10 | | he always wanted to live his best life and look good while |
| 11 | | doing it; he was funny, kind, confident, hardworking, and warm; |
| 12 | | he loved his family, his friends, and his dogs, Graycie, Mabel, |
| 13 | | and Broty; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Drew Adams was preceded in death by his maternal |
| 15 | | great-grandmother, Alliester Adkins; his paternal grandmother, |
| 16 | | Hannah Adams; and his maternal grandfather, John Miller; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Drew Adams is survived by his parents; his |
| 18 | | sisters, Ruby and Sophia; his maternal great-grandfather, |
| 19 | | Carlos Adkins; his paternal grandfather, James Adams; his |
| 20 | | maternal grandmother, Connie Thomas; his aunts, Lisa (John) |
| 21 | | Eilermann and Brenda (Dan) Wilcox; his uncles, Leo Lynn |
| 22 | | (Sheila) Adams and Arnold (Alicia) Adams; 10 cousins; and many |

| 1 | | other family members and friends; therefore, be it

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
| 3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 4 | | Andrew James "Drew" Adams and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 5 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 6 | | further

| 7 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 8 | | presented to the family of Drew Adams as an expression of our |
| 9 | | deepest sympathy.
