| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Joseph "Joe" B. Burns of Rock Island, who |
| 4 | | passed away on June 10, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burns was born to Harold and Irene DeJaeger |
| 6 | | Burns in Moline on March 18, 1941; he graduated from Alleman |
| 7 | | High School and joined the U.S. Navy in 1961;
he married Sharon |
| 8 | | McMurray on July 12, 1969; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burns worked 18 and a half years at John Deere |
| 10 | | Harvester; he retired in 2009 as co-owner and operator of the |
| 11 | | 14th Avenue Waffle Shop in Rock Island; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burns belonged to St. Pius X Catholic Church |
| 13 | | and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the |
| 14 | | Garabandal movement;
he was very proud of the replica of Noah's |
| 15 | | Ark he built in the 1970s; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burns was preceded in death by his parents and |
| 17 | | three siblings, Rosemarie Kennedy, Robert Burns, and Patricia |
| 18 | | Jenning; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burns is survived by his wife, Sharon Burns; |
| 20 | | his children, David (Lisa) Burns, Paul (Anna) Burns, Brian |
