SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of John "Terry" McFadden of Shorewood, who 
4passed away on June 11, 2020; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Terry McFadden was born in Joliet and attended 
6Joliet East High School, where he was the star pitcher on the 
7school baseball team; he graduated from Illinois State 
8University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and then 
9earned his Master of Science in Educational Administration from 
10Northern Illinois University; he continued with post graduate 
11studies throughout his teaching career; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Terry McFadden taught English at Downers Grove 
13North and South High Schools for 35 years, retiring in 2007; 
14while at Downers Grove, he was an assistant baseball coach and 
15a peer mentor; he taught Rhetoric in the evening school at 
16Joliet Junior College for many years; he also served on the 
17Troy School Board for over 40 years and was elected for the 
18first time when he was only 28 years old; he was very proud of 
19the teachers, staff, students, and the community that he 
20represented; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Terry McFadden was a volunteer baseball coach in 
22many local baseball leagues from pinto level to pony league; he

1coached his three sons and many athletes from the Shorewood 
2area; he was also an accomplished junior high, high school, and 
3college basketball official and  twice officiated the IHSA State 
4Finals;  he was once  awarded Official of the Year; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Terry McFadden was preceded in death by his son, 
6Chris; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Terry McFadden is survived by his devoted wife of 
8almost 50 years, Susan McFadden; his two sons, Dr. James 
9(Ginger) and Daniel (Ashley); his daughter-in-law, Sarah, his 
10seven grandchildren, Brooke, Matt, Erin, Ginnie-Sue, 
11Anastasia, Declan, and Michael; and his one grandchild on the 
12way; therefore, be it
  
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

15John "Terry" McFadden and extend our sincere
condolences to his 
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it 
17further
  
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

19presented to the family of Terry McFadden as an expression of

20our deepest sympathy.
