| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Frederick "Fred" Richard Mason of Port |
| 4 | | Byron, who passed away on June 17, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Fred Mason was born to Fred T. and Ruby (Hadley) |
| 6 | | Mason on December 20, 1929; he graduated from Atkinson High |
| 7 | | School and then attended Illinois Bankers School in Carbondale; |
| 8 | | he married Lillian White in Kewanee on October 14, 1951; Fred |
| 9 | | served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, working as a medic |
| 10 | | during the Korean War; he was also in the US Army Reserve, |
| 11 | | retiring in 1977; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Fred Mason farmed in the Atkinson area for 12 |
| 13 | | years and Leland for two years; he also worked for the Leland |
| 14 | | National Bank from 1967 to 1974 and then served as president of |
| 15 | | the Sugar Grove Bank from 1975 to 1995; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, For over 50 years, Fred Mason was a member of the |
| 17 | | American Legion in Sugar Grove and Port Byron; he was also a |
| 18 | | member of the Lions Club; he was a wonderful husband, father, |
| 19 | | grandfather, brother, and friend; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Fred Mason was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 21 | | his wife, Lillian Mason; his son, Darrell Mason; his brother, |
