2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Cranston Oliver Byrd of Waukegan, who |
4 | | passed away on May 2, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Cranston Byrd was born to Jeanette and Arthur Byrd |
6 | | in Waukegan on November 30, 1946; he graduated from Waukegan |
7 | | High School in 1964; he worked a number of odd jobs before |
8 | | making the decision to attend Southern Illinois University in |
9 | | Carbondale, majoring in drafting and architecture; he married |
10 | | Barbara A. Vernon on August 24, 1968; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, in 1968, Cranston Byrd went to work for Lake |
12 | | County as a draftsman, later earning the promotion to zoning |
13 | | administrator; in 1980, he took on a new challenge as the |
14 | | director of planning for the City of North Chicago; he returned |
15 | | to Lake County in 1982, where he became Deputy Director of |
16 | | Community and Economic Development; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Cranston Byrd had a deep faith; he loved life and |
18 | | his friends and family; his wisdom and sense of humor will be |
19 | | missed; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Cranston Byrd was preceded in death by his |
21 | | parents; his uncle, Raymond Randell; and his aunts, Helen |
