| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Robert Kenneth "Ken" Harvey Sr. of | ||||||
| 4 | Wadsworth, who passed away on April 10, 2020; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Ken Harvey was born in Waukegan to Robert and | ||||||
| 6 | Harriett Harvey on April 18, 1949; he was a lifelong resident | ||||||
| 7 | of Lake County; he graduated from Warren Township High School | ||||||
| 8 | in 1967; he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969 and served | ||||||
| 9 | during the Vietnam War; he married Cindy on August 28, 1971; | ||||||
| 10 | and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Ken Harvey was hired by the Waukegan Fire | ||||||
| 12 | Department in 1973 and served his community for over 28 years; | ||||||
| 13 | he held several positions while there, including firefighter | ||||||
| 14 | and paramedic, Union Local 473 President, WFD Bomb Team | ||||||
| 15 | Commander, Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Chief, prior to | ||||||
| 16 | retiring as Captain in 2002; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, After retirement, Ken Harvey served as a trustee | ||||||
| 18 | for the Village of Wadsworth; he held this position for 13 | ||||||
| 19 | years; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Ken Harvey was a member of Gideons International; | ||||||
| 21 | he served as troop leader for Boy Scouts Troop 1; he enjoyed | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | spending time with and supporting his family in their | ||||||
| 2 | activities; he was named the greatest fan of his son Rob's | ||||||
| 3 | current band, Bella Cain; he built a front engine dragster and | ||||||
| 4 | spent several seasons touring the World of Wheels shows; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Ken Harvey is survived by his wife of 48 and a | ||||||
| 6 | half years, Cindy; his sons, Rob (Ashley Bunner) and Jason | ||||||
| 7 | (Tanya); his grandchildren, Tori and Anthony Harvey; his bonus | ||||||
| 8 | granddaughter, Aubrie Orrick; his sister, Barbara (Rick) | ||||||
| 9 | Booker; his brother-in-law, Martin (the late Sue) Stanonik; and | ||||||
| 10 | his several nieces, nephews, and countless friends; therefore, | ||||||
| 11 | be it

| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 14 | Robert Kenneth "Ken" Harvey Sr. and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 15 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 16 | him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to the family of Ken Harvey as an expression of our | ||||||
| 19 | deepest sympathy.
