SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Wayne F. Machnich of Lake Bluff, who passed away on May 17, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was born in Waukegan on April 26, 1943; he grew up in North Chicago; he was a long-time resident of Waukegan and lived in Lake Bluff for the last 22 years; an Architecture graduate, he attended the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich began working at Legat Architects in 1968, where he served as president from 1983 to 2007 and retired in 2013; he was a founding member of its Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich served on the Architectural Foundation Board of Southern Illinois University; he was recognized with the SIU Alumni Achievement Award in 2007; he was also the founder and past president of the Waukegan Schools Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was an avid golfer, and he served as the past president of the Glen Flora Country Club; he also enjoyed traveling with his wife; together, they visited all 50 states and all 7 continents, including Antarctica; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Angela Machnich; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cheryl Machnich; his daughter, Tegan (Var Lordahl) Machnich; his grandchildren, Everett and Quinn; his sister, Corinne Nennig; and his nephews, Frank (Cindy) Nennig, Monte (Cheryl) Nennig, and Mike (Michelle) Nennig; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Wayne F. Machnich and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wayne Machnich as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
