| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Valli Rebecca Montgomery Tolleson of | ||||||
| 4 | Gurnee, who passed away on April 28, 2020; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson was born in Waukegan to Gladys | ||||||
| 6 | Marian (Humbert) and John "Jack" Robert Montgomery on July 25, | ||||||
| 7 | 1945; she attended Whittier Elementary School and Daniel | ||||||
| 8 | Webster Secondary School; she graduated from Waukegan High | ||||||
| 9 | School in 1963; she married John Carroll Tolleson in Waukegan | ||||||
| 10 | at the Post Chapel, U.S. Naval Training Center, Great Lakes on | ||||||
| 11 | October 19, 1968; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson worked as a teller at the First | ||||||
| 13 | National Bank in Waukegan; she then began a long and successful | ||||||
| 14 | career at Abbott Laboratories; she retired from Abbott after 25 | ||||||
| 15 | years of service; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson had a love for embroidery work; she | ||||||
| 17 | also enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends, and | ||||||
| 18 | traveling, especially to England, Scotland, and Wales; she | ||||||
| 19 | enjoyed visiting the farm in Waldwick, Wisconsin, where her | ||||||
| 20 | mother was raised, and attending the Cornish festival in | ||||||
| 21 | Mineral Point, Wisconsin; and | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson had a great sense of humor; she was | ||||||
| 2 | a wonderful hostess and had some of the best gatherings during | ||||||
| 3 | holidays for family and friends; her Fourth of July parties | ||||||
| 4 | were some of the finest; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 6 | parents and her brother-in-law, Gerald Edgar Tolleson; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson is survived by her husband of over | ||||||
| 8 | 50 years, John; her brother, Robert Bruce (Beverly "Bev") | ||||||
| 9 | Montgomery; her brother-in-law, Donald William (Barbara) | ||||||
| 10 | Tolleson; her niece, Kari Ann Montgomery; her niece, Lisa Marie | ||||||
| 11 | Montgomery; her niece, Shannon Cassondra Tolleson; her cousin, | ||||||
| 12 | Jack Terrill Humbert; her miniature Dachshunds, Guinness and | ||||||
| 13 | Lacy;
and numerous close family friends and their families; | ||||||
| 14 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 17 | Valli Rebecca Montgomery Tolleson and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 18 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 19 | her; and be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to the family of Valli Tolleson as an expression of | ||||||
| 22 | our deepest sympathy.
