2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Alvin "Al" Spencer of East Moline, who |
4 | | passed away on July 20, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Alvin Spencer was born in Brenham, Texas to Walter |
6 | | and Pearl Spencer on September 28, 1944; he was the eighth of |
7 | | 10 children; he graduated from Pickard High School in Brenham; |
8 | | he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the |
9 | | University of Washington in Seattle, Washington; he served in |
10 | | the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971; he |
11 | | married Brenda Dunlap in November 1974; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Alvin Spencer joined Deere & Company as a summer |
13 | | Engineering student in June 1966; he was hired by the |
14 | | Industrial Equipment Division in 1967; he worked at Dubuque |
15 | | Works in manufacturing and product design in 1971; he worked at |
16 | | the Technical Center in Product Concepts in 1973; he moved to |
17 | | Plow Planter in 1980; he joined the Quality Services Team as |
18 | | Project Manager in 1982 and developed the quality circuit of |
19 | | e-tools known as "Metrology, Simulation and Analysis (MSA)"; he |
20 | | retired after a rewarding career of 35 years in December 2001; |
21 | | and

22 | | WHEREAS, Alvin Spencer committed to his faith at an early |

1 | | age; he was a member of Christ Anglican Church in Moline; he |
2 | | and his wife joined the Order of St. Luke in July 2018; a man of |
3 | | steadfast faithfulness, integrity, and strength, he had been |
4 | | involved with Renewal in Christ Ministries (RICM) since its |
5 | | conception in the early 1980s; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Alvin Spencer is survived by his wife, Brenda; his |
7 | | twin sons, Chad (Kati) and Richard; his grandchildren, William, |
8 | | Scarlett, Tyler, and Samantha; his brother, Roscoe (Gloria); |
9 | | his sisters, Geneva Elliott, Odessa Howard, Rev. Bettye Damon, |
10 | | Barbara Evans, and Janice (David) Allen; his aunt, V. G. Odom; |
11 | | his uncle, Lawrence Spencer Sr.; and his many nieces, nephews, |
12 | | great-nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
|
13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Alvin "Al" Spencer and extend our sincere condolences to his |
16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
17 | | further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Alvin Spencer as an expression of |
20 | | our deepest sympathy.
