SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Alvin "Al" Spencer of East Moline, who
4passed away on July 20, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alvin Spencer was born in Brenham, Texas to Walter
6and Pearl Spencer on September 28, 1944; he was the eighth of
710 children; he graduated from Pickard High School in Brenham;
8he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the
9University of Washington in Seattle, Washington; he served in
10the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971; he
11married Brenda Dunlap in November 1974; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Alvin Spencer joined Deere & Company as a summer
13Engineering student in June 1966; he was hired by the
14Industrial Equipment Division in 1967; he worked at Dubuque
15Works in manufacturing and product design in 1971; he worked at
16the Technical Center in Product Concepts in 1973; he moved to
17Plow Planter in 1980; he joined the Quality Services Team as
18Project Manager in 1982 and developed the quality circuit of
19e-tools known as "Metrology, Simulation and Analysis (MSA)"; he
20retired after a rewarding career of 35 years in December 2001;
21and
 
22    WHEREAS, Alvin Spencer committed to his faith at an early

1age; he was a member of Christ Anglican Church in Moline; he
2and his wife joined the Order of St. Luke in July 2018; a man of
3steadfast faithfulness, integrity, and strength, he had been
4involved with Renewal in Christ Ministries (RICM) since its
5conception in the early 1980s; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Alvin Spencer is survived by his wife, Brenda; his
7twin sons, Chad (Kati) and Richard; his grandchildren, William,
8Scarlett, Tyler, and Samantha; his brother, Roscoe (Gloria);
9his sisters, Geneva Elliott, Odessa Howard, Rev. Bettye Damon,
10Barbara Evans, and Janice (David) Allen; his aunt, V. G. Odom;
11his uncle, Lawrence Spencer Sr.; and his many nieces, nephews,
12great-nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Alvin "Al" Spencer and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Alvin Spencer as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
