| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Allen Hallberg Myers of Moline, who |
| 4 | | passed away on July 20, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Allen Myers was born to Alson and Myrtle |
| 6 | | (Hallberg) Myers near Centralia on November 3, 1931; he |
| 7 | | attended Centralia High School and then Southern Illinois |
| 8 | | University, earning a degree in geology and geography in 1952; |
| 9 | | after graduation, he enlisted in the Navy; he started |
| 10 | | electronics training on Treasure Island in San Francisco and |
| 11 | | then attended officer candidate school in Providence, Rhode |
| 12 | | Island, commissioning as a lieutenant junior grade; he married |
| 13 | | Lena Pantaleo in Du Quoin on July 13, 1953, and they moved to |
| 14 | | Monterey, California for his post-graduate studies before |
| 15 | | relocating to San Diego, where he served as head electronics |
| 16 | | officer on the USS Winston; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Upon leaving the Navy in 1956, Allen Myers joined |
| 18 | | his father in running the family farm, Myers Orchards; after |
| 19 | | selling the farm in 1990, he went into business development at |
| 20 | | Kaskaskia College and then became a real estate broker with |
| 21 | | Coldwell Banker; over the course of his career, he earned |
| 22 | | numerous awards with the Illinois Association of Realtors; and
