| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Carleton "Tex" Munday of Normal, who |
| 4 | | passed away on August 14, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was born to Adlai S. and Elizabeth |
| 6 | | Smith Munday in 1922; at the outbreak of World War Two, he |
| 7 | | enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps; he served as a B-24 pilot |
| 8 | | and flew 51 missions in the China-Burma-India Theater; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday worked for AT&T Long Lines in |
| 10 | | Springfield and Peoria for 29 years; after moving to Normal, he |
| 11 | | was employed by State Farm Insurance for 17 years until his |
| 12 | | retirement in 1986; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was known for his honesty, |
| 14 | | loyalty, patience, and positive outlook; he was a proud veteran |
| 15 | | who epitomized the qualities of the Greatest Generation; he |
| 16 | | loved his family, had a zest for life, and was involved in his |
| 17 | | church and the community; he was a lifelong fan of the Cubs and |
| 18 | | the Fighting Illini and loved playing golf; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was preceded in death by his |
| 20 | | parents and his wife of 72 years, Virginia Collyer Munday; and
