| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Donald E. "Gus" Kissel of Springfield, |
| 4 | | who passed away on September 13, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gus Kissel was born in Ottawa to John F. and Anne |
| 6 | | (Kelly) Kissel on August 8, 1931; he graduated from St. Bede |
| 7 | | Academy in Peru and attended Purdue University; he served in |
| 8 | | the U.S. Army and married Margaret A. Roach at St. Patrick |
| 9 | | Catholic Church in LaSalle on June 20, 1953; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Gus Kissel worked for Illinois Bell for 38 years |
| 11 | | as a forecaster; he retired in 1990; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Gus Kissel was named to the Chicago Tribune |
| 13 | | All-State Football Team and is in the St. Bede Athletic Hall of |
| 14 | | Fame for his football skills; he was a member of the Bell |
| 15 | | Pioneers and the Elks Lodge; he enjoyed golfing, spending |
| 16 | | winters in Florida, football, baseball, and reading westerns; |
| 17 | | and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Gus Kissel was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 19 | | his granddaughter, Megan Leigh Kissel; and his brother, John F. |
| 20 | | Kissel; and
