SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of John W. Henry formerly of Rock Island, 
4who passed on September 14, 2020; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, John Henry was born to Ray and Elsie (Ewert) Henry 
6in Rock Island on June 29, 1923; he served in the U.S. Navy 
7from 1944 to 1946; he married Floriene E. Chinlund on February 
827, 1946; he earned his civil engineering degree from the 
9University of Illinois in 1953; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, John Henry worked at John Deere for 19 years; in 
111969,  he and his wife purchased the Novelty Shack in Rock 
12Island and operated the business until 1987; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, John Henry loved golfing and fishing with his wife 
14and best friends, Bus and Dee Anderson; he truly loved spending 
15time with his family; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, John Henry was preceded in death by his parents 
17and his wife; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, John Henry is survived by his children, Dan (Lynn) 
19Henry and  Diane (Terry) Crawford; his grandchildren, Scott 
20(Kristie) Crawford, Jamie (Karrie) Crawford, and Briana Henry;

1and his six great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison, McKenna, 
2Thatcher, Harrison, and Kate Crawford; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

5John W. Henry and extend our sincere
condolences to his family, 
6friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

8presented to the family of John Henry as an expression of
our 
9deepest sympathy.
