SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Philip J. White of Silvis, who passed away on September 23, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Philip White was born in Leominster, Massachusetts to Henry E. and Beatrice (Bailey) White on October 1, 1936; he attended St. Leo School in Leominster and St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts; and

WHEREAS, Philip White loved to play baseball and played professionally in the Midwest League; he was signed by the Boston Red Sox in 1956; he served his country in the U.S. Army and earned several commendations; and

WHEREAS, Philip White graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1964 and married Mercedes Stai on November 28, 1964; he and his wife returned to Leominster, where he practiced for over 37 years, retiring in 2002; and

WHEREAS, Philip White enjoyed camping in Maine, traveling, tinkering and fixing things, and spending time with his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Philip White was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean Raney; and

WHEREAS, Philip White is survived by his wife, Mercedes; his children, Philip White Jr., Paul (Wendy) White, Prescott (Sharon) White, Terri Favela, and Michael Selhost; his grandchildren, Jenna, Nicholas, Adan, Raul, Jennifer, Jacquie, Tim, Anthony, Benjamin, and Katherine; his great-grandchildren, Michael, Izabel, Elizabeth, Audrey, Mason, Jaxson, Lily, and Landon; and his siblings, Henry White, Douglas (Nancy) White, James White, Richard White, Robert White, Laureen White, and Lynn Matarese; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Philip J. White and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Philip White as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
