2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of William "Bill" Andrew Brown, formally of | ||||||
4 | Bloomington, who passed away on May 22, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bill Brown graduated from Bloomington High in | ||||||
6 | 1961; he then joined the United States Marine Corps; during his | ||||||
7 | service, he traveled extensively, including to Africa and | ||||||
8 | numerous countries; he earned a meritorious promotion to | ||||||
9 | Sergeant E-4 and was honorably discharged after six years of | ||||||
10 | service; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, After his service, Bill Brown became an apprentice | ||||||
12 | with a local bricklayer union in Bloomington and was given the | ||||||
13 | title of youngest construction foreman in the area; after | ||||||
14 | moving to Colorado, he purchased ski lodges, restaurants, and a | ||||||
15 | pub; he then furthered his education and became a Municipal | ||||||
16 | Judge in Grand County, Colorado; he also became a certified | ||||||
17 | hotel administrator; he and his family then moved to Red River, | ||||||
18 | New Mexico where he managed condominiums and a corporate | ||||||
19 | hunting retreat and rodeo arena; wishing for a warmer climate, | ||||||
20 | the family moved again to Texas, where he managed and built | ||||||
21 | hotels on the Texas Gulf Coast; after buying an RV and | ||||||
22 | extensive travel to the east coast, he found employment with | ||||||
23 | the Department of Defense/NEXCOM; after retirement and |

1 | settling back in Texas, he became seasonal general manager at | ||||||
2 | the Paradise Inn at the foot of Mount Rainier and the next year | ||||||
3 | at Lake Yellowstone Lodge; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Bill Brown loved to travel with his wife, Cricket; | ||||||
5 | in his later years, he and his wife traveled all over the U.S. | ||||||
6 | and Europe; he also enjoyed skiing, hunting, community service, | ||||||
7 | and hospitality; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Bill Brown was proceeded in death by his parents, | ||||||
9 | William "Bill" E. and Ina Jean Brown; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Bill Brown is survived by Cricket Brown and Nikki | ||||||
11 | Brown and Mark Brown, Scott and Staci Huggins, and Jodi and | ||||||
12 | Bill Taylor; his seven grandchildren, Braxton, Savannah, and | ||||||
13 | Sage Huggins, Ryan Murry, and Chloe, Grace, and Kyle Taylor; | ||||||
14 | his one great-grandchild, Houston Wyatt Huggins; his siblings, | ||||||
15 | Robert "Ed" (Paula) Brown, Rodney O. (Pat) Brown, and Debba | ||||||
16 | (John) Jean Sweeney; and his numerous nieces and nephews; | ||||||
17 | therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | William "Bill" Andrew Brown and extend our sincere
condolences | ||||||
21 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be | ||||||
22 | it further
