SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John F. Ruby of Bloomington, who passed
4away on September 19, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Ruby was born to Harold and Margaret "Peg"
6Ruby in Saint Paul, Minnesota on February 26, 1938; he
7graduated from Dowling High School in Des Moines, Iowa; after
8graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS
9Baya submarine and trained as an electrical engineer; and
 
10    WHEREAS, After his time in the Navy, John Ruby got a job
11with GTE, now Verizon; he worked on upgrading transatlantic
12communication systems which helped to usher in the new
13telecommunications age from which we still benefit; he worked
14at GTE until his retirement in 1990; after retiring, he enjoyed
15working at the Woodworkers Shop in Bloomington; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Ruby attended the Holy Trinity Catholic
17Church for many years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Ruby enjoyed golf, woodworking, and his
19involvement in the National Association for Amateur Radio; he
20enjoyed annual golf weekends with his brothers, where he
21regularly dominated on the golf course; he was an honorable,

1humble man who will be dearly missed; and
 
2    WHEREAS, John Ruby was preceded in death by his parents and
3his four siblings, Mary Ruby, Ann Winkelhake, David Ruby, and
4Mike Ruby; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Ruby is survived by his children, Tracy
6(John) Humphrey, Aaron (Veronica) Ruby, and John Ruby; his six
7grandchildren, Reagan, Cole, and Elliot Humphrey and Rykley,
8Schaler, and Finley Ruby; and his five siblings, Margaret
9(Dennis) Stinn, Jane Boyce, Tom (Carol) Ruby, Paul (Stephanie)
10Ruby, and Bernie Ruby; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13John F. Ruby and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
14friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of John Ruby as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
