| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Jerrold Calvin "JJ" Johnson of |
| 4 | | Springfield, who passed away on October 24, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson was born to Johnnie and Georgia |
| 6 | | Mae Johnson in Oak Grove, Louisiana on August 11, 1936; after |
| 7 | | serving in the Army Reserves for two years, he entered the |
| 8 | | United States Air Force and attained the rank of a Master |
| 9 | | Sergeant; he proudly served his country for 22 years; he loved |
| 10 | | learning and earned three associate degrees, two bachelor's |
| 11 | | degrees, a master's degree, and eventually a Ph.D.; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson worked for the Illinois |
| 13 | | Department of Economic Development for 20 years, retiring in |
| 14 | | 2012 as a Manpower Planner 3; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson was a dedicated member of Pilgrim |
| 16 | | Rest Baptist Church where he sang in the men's choir and the |
| 17 | | senior choir; he volunteered at the Boys and Girls Clubs of |
| 18 | | America and mentored many young men into adulthood; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson enjoyed his free time by avidly |
| 20 | | consuming world news and events to expand his knowledge base; |
| 21 | | and
