SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of William  Edward "Bill" Griffith of 
4Springfield, who passed away on October 27, 2020; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Griffith was born to  William Edward and 
6Ardella (Houston) Griffith on October 15, 1928; he married 
7Theresa Dorothy Washko on May 7, 1949; he served in the U.S. 
8Navy;  and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Bill Griffith worked in the insurance industry and 
10later owned the Newell Insurance Company in Ashland; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, In his early years, Bill Griffith loved to build 
12and race stock cars; he was a pilot who flew private airplanes 
13and built and flew experimental aircraft; he enjoyed spending 
14time with the family dogs, Frank and Jack; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Bill Griffith was preceded in death by his wife 
16and his brother, Robert "Bob" Griffith; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Bill Griffith is survived by his children, Brad 
18Griffith and Jean (Tom) Jennings; his grandchildren, Kate 
19Jennings and Will (Emily) Jennings; and his 
20great-granddaughter, Avery Jennings; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

3William  Edward "Bill" Griffith and extend our sincere

4condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved

5him; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

7presented to the family of Bill Griffith as an expression of

8our deepest sympathy.
