SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John M. Dennis of Danvers, who passed
4away on October 18, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Dennis was born to Harry and Mary Wall Dennis
6in Bloomington on September 22, 1930; he graduated from
7University High School and later attended carpenter apprentice
8school; he served four years active duty with the U.S. Army and
9also served with the Illinois Army National Guard, retiring in
101986, for a total of 37 years of service; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Dennis worked as a commercial and residential
12builder and later worked at Lumber Land and Lumber Lane; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Dennis was a member of the First Presbyterian
14Church in Danvers; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Dennis was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan; he
16enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren; he
17was a very generous man and provided countless home remodels
18and repairs for family and friends; and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Dennis was preceded in death by his parents;
20one daughter, Sheila Spivey; his brother, Tom (Cathy) Dennis;

1and his sisters, Christine Beebe and Mary Helen Goetsch; and
 
2    WHEREAS, John Dennis is survived by three children, Steve
3(Nancy) Dennis, John M. "Mike" (Karen) Dennis Jr., and Georgia
4(Steve) Spivey; his eight grandchildren, Luscina Dennis, Kalle
5Dennis, Cassie Dennis, Collin Dennis, Amanda Yazell, Andrea
6(Steve) Fears, Trisha (Mike) Filliman, and Amber (Jared)
7Monroe; several great-grandchildren; his three brothers, James
8Dennis, William Dennis, Tim (Susan) Dennis; and his sister,
9Paulita (Mark) Killian; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12John M. Dennis and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of John Dennis as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
