| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Robert A. "Bob" Loy of Bloomington, who |
| 4 | | passed away on October 29, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Loy was born in Bloomington to James A. Loy |
| 6 | | and Wilma Jean Loy Pitzer on April 5, 1955; he graduated from |
| 7 | | Bloomington High School in 1973; he graduated from Illinois |
| 8 | | State University in 1977, where he was an All-American swimmer; |
| 9 | | he married Shelley Hanson in Bloomington on July 27, 1996; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Bob Loy was a teacher at Bloomington High School |
| 11 | | and later became the head swim coach in 1979; he received a |
| 12 | | number of accolades over the years, including being named the |
| 13 | | State Coach of the Year; he served as an instructor and swim |
| 14 | | coach at many local clubs and pools for over 40 years, most |
| 15 | | recently at Bloomington Normal Swim Club; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Bob Loy was a member of Eastview Christian Church; |
| 17 | | he enjoyed fishing and playing slow-pitch softball; he will be |
| 18 | | remembered for his love for his family, his passion for |
| 19 | | swimming, and his commitment to his students; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Bob Loy was preceded in death by his parents; his |
| 21 | | stepfather, Charles Pitzer; his father-in-law, Doug Hanson; |
