SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Sgt. Jeremy C. Sherman of Watseka, who
4passed away on November 12, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sgt. Sherman, the son of Gwendolyn and Scott
6Childress, was born in Covington, Tennessee on January 6, 1997;
7he graduated from Watseka Community High School in 2015; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Sgt. Sherman joined the United States Army in
92015; he served in South Korea, Afghanistan, and Egypt; he was
10a Black Hawk crew chief with Aviation Company, Task Force
11Sinai, part of a multinational peacekeeping mission, and was
12attending college for aeronautics in hopes of one day becoming
13a Black Hawk pilot; his decorations included the Army
14Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Award, the Army Good
15Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the
16Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service
17Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korea
18Defense Service Medal, the Non-Commissioned Officer
19Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, and
20the Overseas Service Ribbon; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Sgt. Sherman enjoyed spending time with his family
22and summers at Yogi Bear Camp Grounds; he loved ice cream and

1dogs, especially Chewy, his pet Chihuahua; he was an avid fan
2of the Chicago Bears; he was a loyal friend and cherished his
3family; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Sgt. Sherman was preceded in death by his
5grandmother, Carol Sherman; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sgt. Sherman is survived by his wife, Kathleen
7Sherman; his parents; his brother, Nathan Childress; and his
8sister, Shea Childress; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Sgt. Jeremy C. Sherman and extend our sincere condolences to
12his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Sgt. Sherman as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
