SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David W. "Dave" Collins of East Moline, who passed away on August 19, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Dave Collins was born in Chicago to David L. and Virginia (Bausher) Collins on September 4, 1938; he graduated from Lake View High School in Chicago in 1957; he attended Shimer College in Mount Carroll; he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Essex from 1962 to 1964; he married Leona (Bender) Dudzik in 1971; he later married Sheri (Christie) White on November 9, 1996; and

WHEREAS, Dave Collins moved to the Quad City area for an administrative position with local McDonald's restaurants in the early 1970s; he worked as a co-owner and an administrator of several Maid-Rites franchises in the Quad City and surrounding area for over 20 years before retiring in 2007; and

WHEREAS, Dave Collins was deeply committed to his faith and was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline for nearly 40 years; he was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears; he enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren, reading, and watching and playing golf; he was proud of making a hole-in-one at the Indian Bluff Golf Course on October 4, 2013; he was involved with the Playcrafters Barn Theater, both on and off stage, in the early 1980s; he was passionate about literature and history; he was a firm believer in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the founding principles of the U.S.; and

WHEREAS, Dave Collins was known as "Butch"; he was affectionately known as "Papa" and "Grandpa Dave" to his grandchildren; he will be remembered for being kind, selfless, and generous; and

WHEREAS, Dave Collins was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, James Christie; and

WHEREAS, Dave Collins is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sheri; his children, Mike (Loretta) Dudzik, Mark Collins, and Lauren White; his grandchildren, Michael, Derrick, Autumn, Graham, and Henry; his brother, Larry (Terrie); and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of David W. "Dave" Collins and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dave Collins as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
