| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Edward J. "Ed" Debowski of East Moline, |
| 4 | | who passed away on November 9, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ed Debowski was born in Donora, Pennsylvania to |
| 6 | | Casimir and Mary (Chinay) Debowski on October 31, 1924; he |
| 7 | | served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War II, |
| 8 | | where he was a 2nd Class Petty Officer on the U.S.S. Shannon |
| 9 | | destroyer minelayer; he married Ann Koday in Donora on May 7, |
| 10 | | 1949; they lived in Donora until they moved to East Moline in |
| 11 | | 1963, where they raised eight children; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Ed Debowski worked for the U.S. Steel Mill in |
| 13 | | Donora, Pennsylvania for 11 years; after moving to East Moline, |
| 14 | | he worked as an electrician at Alcoa for 27 years until his |
| 15 | | retirement in 1990; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Ed Debowski was a member and on the board of the |
| 17 | | Catholic Credit Union; he was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe |
| 18 | | Catholic Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir for many |
| 19 | | years; he had a passion for gardening and playing cards; he was |
| 20 | | known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and |
| 21 | | compassionate spirit; and
