SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward J. "Ed" Debowski of East Moline,
4who passed away on November 9, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ed Debowski was born in Donora, Pennsylvania to
6Casimir and Mary (Chinay) Debowski on October 31, 1924; he
7served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War II,
8where he was a 2nd Class Petty Officer on the U.S.S. Shannon
9destroyer minelayer; he married Ann Koday in Donora on May 7,
101949; they lived in Donora until they moved to East Moline in
111963, where they raised eight children; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ed Debowski worked for the U.S. Steel Mill in
13Donora, Pennsylvania for 11 years; after moving to East Moline,
14he worked as an electrician at Alcoa for 27 years until his
15retirement in 1990; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ed Debowski was a member and on the board of the
17Catholic Credit Union; he was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe
18Catholic Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir for many
19years; he had a passion for gardening and playing cards; he was
20known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and
21compassionate spirit; and

1    WHEREAS, Ed Debowski was preceded in death by his parents
2and his siblings, Joseph Debowski, Violet Zielinski, and Walter
3Debowski; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ed Debowski is survived by his wife of 71 years,
5Ann; his children, Joseph Debowski, Michael (Patty) Debowski,
6Kathleen Dopler, Marian Ferry, Edward (Lisa) Debowski, Ann
7Marie (Gary) Schutt, James Debowski, and Carolyn (John) Potter;
8his 14 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; his
9siblings, Helen Pipik and Anthony Debowski; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Edward J. "Ed" Debowski and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Ed Debowski as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
