SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Thomas Lee "Tom" Slead of Moline, who 
4passed away on November 2, 2020; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Slead was born in Rock Island to Richard N. 
6and Dorothy J. (Holdefer) Slead on November 23, 1949; he served 
7in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War; he married Pamela 
8Powell in Rock Island in 1984; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Tom Slead owned and operated Cross Country Trailer 
10Sales in Davenport, Iowa; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Tom Slead often enjoyed a pitcher of beer and 
12pizza at one of  the Quad City-style pizza places; he was an 
13avid golfer and a golf fan; he cheered for the Iowa Hawkeyes 
14and the Chicago Bears; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Tom Slead was preceded in death by his brother, 
16Norman Slead; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Tom Slead is survived by his wife, Pam; his 
18children, Eric Slead, Jason Slagel, and Jeremy Slagel; his 
19grandchildren, Ashlyn, Sariah, and Montana; his sisters, Pat 
20(Pete) Strupp and Monica (Larry) York; and his brother, Mike

1Slead; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Thomas Lee "Tom" Slead and extend our sincere condolences to 
5his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
6further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Tom Slead as an expression of our 
9deepest sympathy.
