| 2 | | WHEREAS, the members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Clark Michael "Mike" Shanahan of Oak |
| 4 | | Park, who passed away on July 1, 2020 at the age of 64; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Shanahan was born to Clark and JoAnn (Kelley) |
| 6 | | Shanahan in Owosso, Michigan on July 12, 1955; he was a |
| 7 | | graduate of the Farallones Institute in California, where he |
| 8 | | discovered his passion for furniture design and construction; |
| 9 | | he subsequently pursued a career in furniture craftsmanship in |
| 10 | | Paris; his love for french culture inspired him to earn a |
| 11 | | Bachelor of Arts in French from the University of Illinois at |
| 12 | | Chicago upon his return to the United States; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Mike Shanahan had his own woodworking shops in and |
| 14 | | around Paris; his clients included Chanel, actresses such as |
| 15 | | Delphine Seyrig, the Manufacture Nationale des Gobelins, and |
| 16 | | many more; he continued his woodworking in the U.S., where he |
| 17 | | produced work for high-profile clients such as the Museum of |
| 18 | | Contemporary Art; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Mike Shanahan was a passionate advocate for |
| 20 | | racial, social, environmental, and economic justice; he was |
| 21 | | known for the lively and intellectual discussions he invited at |
| 22 | | his dinner table; and
