|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Louis Peter "Lou" Cipparrone, who passed |
4 | | away on November 17, 2019 at the age of 88; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Lou Cipparrone was born to Peter and Angela |
6 | | Cipparrone in Chicago on June 14, 1931, Flag Day, a birthday |
7 | | that suited him because he loved our nation's flag; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Lou Cipparrone grew up in Chicago's Little Italy |
9 | | neighborhood with his siblings, Bill, Gene, and Rose; he |
10 | | graduated from Crane Tech High School and became a pharmacy |
11 | | apprentice before being drafted in 1951 to serve as an army |
12 | | medic during the Korean War; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, Lou Cipparrone worked alongside his fellow |
14 | | servicemen in the 4076 MASH Unit, the Mobile Army Surgical |
15 | | Hospital that was the inspiration for the television series |
16 | | M*A*S*H; he worked fearlessly and courageously throughout his |
17 | | career as a medic and became a hero and a healer; he was able to |
18 | | share the wisdom of his service with his children and his |
19 | | grandchildren; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Lou Cipparrone met Joann Greene, and soon their |
21 | | romance turned into a wedding; they were married on August 31, |

1 | | 1959; together, they raised their five children in Oak Park, |
2 | | where Lou would stay for the remainder of his life; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Lou Cipparrone and Joann Green Cipparrone had five |
4 | | beautiful children, Mickie, Louie, Cathy, Debbie, and Pete; he |
5 | | was loved dearly by his 14 grandchildren, who were his world |
6 | | and who he thought were "terrific" at whatever they did; he |
7 | | never ceased telling them they were deeply loved; and |
8 | | WHEREAS, Lou Cipparrone was an exceptionally dedicated |
9 | | family man; every Sunday night for nearly 30 years, he and |
10 | | Joann hosted their famous family dinner; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Lou Cipparrone was known on the 800 block of |
12 | | Forest Avenue because of his zeal for holiday decorations; he |
13 | | was enthusiastic not only about holiday decorations but also |
14 | | about flying the American flag, both on holidays and whenever |
15 | | it pleased him; and

16 | | WHEREAS, Lou Cipparrone was a master handyman who had a |
17 | | sharp mind; he was a dedicated employee at the Louis Zahn Drug |
18 | | Company for 31 years; he will be dearly missed by family and |
19 | | friends; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Lou Cipparrone was preceded in death by his |
21 | | parents, Peter and Angeline Cipparrone; his brother, Eugene; |

1 | | and his brother-in-law, Darrill (Brenda) Greene; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Lou Cipparrone is survived by his wife, Joann; his |
3 | | children, Mickie (Chuck) Kerr, Louis Jr. (Carolyn), Cathy, |
4 | | Debbie (John) Figel, and Pete (Kris); his grandchildren, Danny, |
5 | | Kristen, Michael (Jane), Johnny, Micheline, Meghan, Tommy, |
6 | | Louie, Lizzie, Sam, Claire, Kate, Joe, and Grace; his siblings, |
7 | | Bill (the late Shirley) and Rose (Jerry) Mele; his |
8 | | brothers-in-law, Tom (Jayne) Greene and Larry (Aiko) Greene; |
9 | | and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be |
10 | | it

11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
13 | | Louis Peter "Lou" Cipparrone and extend our sincere condolences |
14 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
15 | | it further

16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
17 | | presented to the family of Lou Cipparrone as an expression of |
18 | | our deepest sympathy.
