|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Charles Morgan Sayre, D.D.S., who passed |
4 | | away on August 4, 2020 at the age of 97; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Charles Sayre was born to Florence and Dr. |
6 | | Loren Sayre of Oak Park on June 8, 1923; he graduated from Oak |
7 | | Park River Forest High School, where he lettered in football, |
8 | | tennis, and track; he earned the rank of Eagle Scout; he |
9 | | attended Northwestern University and the Northwestern |
10 | | University Dental School; he married Ruth Ella Evans; together, |
11 | | they had five children and lived in Oak Park before moving to |
12 | | River Forest, where the pair lived in the same home for over 50 |
13 | | years; he served as a captain in the U.S. Army during World War |
14 | | II; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Sayre dedicated much of his business life to |
16 | | dentistry in both his Chicago office in the Marshall Field |
17 | | Annex for over 50 years and as a professor at the Loyola |
18 | | University School of Dentistry; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Sayre was an active member in the River |
20 | | Forest, Oak Park, and Chicago communities for over 50 years; he |
21 | | was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oak Park and |
22 | | then the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest, where he |
|

1 | | served as a deacon and elder for many years; he joined the |
2 | | River Forest Tennis Club in the 1960s and could usually be |
3 | | found there after office hours; he played tennis well into his |
4 | | late 80s and was a founding member of the Tennis and Fitness |
5 | | Centre in Oak Park; he was an avid scuba diver and an |
6 | | accomplished water skier; he was a member of the Oak Park Club |
7 | | and the Oak Park Country Club; he volunteered with many |
8 | | community organizations; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Sayre was preceded in death by his wife of 55 |
10 | | years, Ruth Ella Evans Sayre; his daughter, Marla Roxanne |
11 | | Sayre; his granddaughter, Katie Suzanne Satkamp; his sister, |
12 | | Lois Mildred Sayre Rainer; and his brother, Loren Don Sayre; |
13 | | and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Sayre is survived by his children, Ronda |
15 | | (Steve) Satkamp, Cheryl (Walter) Collins, Harlan Sayre, and |
16 | | Kimm (Judy) Sayre; his grandchildren, Shannan (Steve) Bishop, |
17 | | Amy (Keg) Avakian, Mandy Wichman, Lissa (Adam) Blake, Carrie |
18 | | (Chad) Cooper, Abbie (Vic) Zulim, Cray Buresh, Zachary Sayre, |
19 | | Matthew Sayre, Meredith Sayre, Mallorie Sayre, and Morgan |
20 | | Sayre; his great-grandchildren, Ellie Bishop, Chloe Bishop, |
21 | | Madison Bishop, KJ Avakian, Michael Avakian, Suzy Avakian, |
22 | | Charlie Wichman, Jack Wichman, Lucie Blake, Emerson Blake, |
23 | | Cailyn Cooper, Caycee Cooper, Joey Zulim, and Connor Zulim; |

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
3 | | Charles Morgan Sayre, D.D.S. and extend our sincere condolences |
4 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
5 | | it further

6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Dr. Sayre as an expression of our |
8 | | deepest sympathy.
