SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Bernadine Kennelly of Knoxville, who
4passed away on December 4, 2020 at the age of 98; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Kennelly was born in Deerfield Township to
6Newton and Ferne (Schrodt) Cooper on October 21, 1922; she
7graduated from Fairview High School in 1939; she earned her
8bachelor's degree in Education from Western Illinois
9University; she married Teddy A. Kennelly at Locust Lane Church
10in Canton on May 26, 1945, and he preceded her in death on
11January 29, 2014; together, they moved to a farm in Maquon in
121946; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Mary Kennelly taught in Alpha for 2 years after
14graduating; she moved to Detroit, Michigan in the summer of
151940, where she worked as a Rosie the Riveter and made parts
16for planes during World War II; after moving back to Illinois,
17she taught for the Spoon River Valley School District from 1955
18to 1970; she taught at Knoxville Junior High School from 1970
19until she retired in 1978; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mary Kennelly enjoyed working on genealogy with
21her husband; she loved reading, nature, gardening, and camping
22with her family; she was deeply committed to her faith and the

1relationships she shared with her family and her friends; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Mary Kennelly was preceded in death by her
3parents; her husband; her brother, Berwyn Cooper; her grandson,
4Ryan Wiscons; her great-grandson, Colin Kennelly; and her
5great-granddaughter, Jolie Wiscons; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mary Kennelly is survived by her daughter, Mickey
7(Jeff) Woolsey; her sons, Phil (Linda) Kennelly, Kyle (Kathy)
8Kennelly, Brian (Debbie) Kennelly, and Kevin (Annette)
9Kennelly; 19 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and one
10great-great-grandson; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Mary Bernadine Kennelly and extend our sincere condolences to
14her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Mary Kennelly as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
