SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Dr. Richard "Dick" Hunckler Jr.  of 
4Joliet, who passed away on December 21, 2020; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Hunckler was born to Richard J. Sr. and Mary 
6T. (Loscheider) Hunckler on June 6, 1956; he attended St. Jude 
7Grade School and Joliet West High School, where he was 
8president of the senior class, and Joliet Junior College, where 
9he was a member of the state championship golf team; he then 
10attended Eastern Illinois University, where he received the 
11Academic Excellence Award; finally, he attended the Southern 
12Illinois University School of Dental Medicine, where he was the 
13salutatorian, and the University of Chicago; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Dr. Hunckler had a 33-year career as a cosmetic 
15and reconstructive dentist; he was a member of the staff at the 
16Walter G. Zoller Memorial Dental Clinic at The University of 
17Chicago; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Hunckler was voted a member of Omicron Kappa 
19Upsilon, Beta Beta Beta, and the Phi Sigma Society, all 
20national academic fraternities; he was a lifelong golfer and 
21enjoyed numerous outings as part of his foursome The Back Nine 
22Boys, along with  Kelly (Nancy) Campbell, Bob (Kathy) Downey,

1and Tim (Mary) Suste; he also loved playing euchre with and 
2against his lifelong friends and brothers, Steve, Mark, and 
3Jim; he will be remembered as  a kind, thoughtful, fun-loving, 
4fiercely loyal, and extremely intelligent man; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Hunckler was preceded in death by his father, 
6Richard J. Hunckler Sr.; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Hunckler is survived by the "love of his 
8life", Jane Marie Condon; his mother, Mary T. Hunckler; his 
9son, Timothy R. Hunckler; his daughter, Amy K. Hunckler; his 
10brothers, Stephen P. (Barbara), Mark A. (Maribeth), and James 
11E. (Amy); his nephew, Thomas R. Hunckler; his honorary 
12sister/cousin, Kathleen Loscheider; and numerous aunts, 
13uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
  
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
16Dr. Richard "Dick" Hunckler Jr. and extend our sincere 
17condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
18him; and be it further
  
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
20presented to  the family of  Dr. Hunckler as an expression of our 
21deepest sympathy.
