Amends the Illinois Insurance Code to provide that a first-party claimant who has had a property and casualty claim denied in whole or in part and has obtained a payment in excess of the initial offer of the insurer shall be entitled to reimbursement of their reasonable costs incurred to substantiate the claim.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 155.47 as follows:

| 6 | | (215 ILCS 5/155.47 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 155.47. First-party claimant reimbursement. A |
| 8 | | first-party claimant who has had a property and casualty claim |
| 9 | | denied in whole or in part and has obtained a payment in excess |
| 10 | | of the initial offer of the insurer shall be entitled to |
| 11 | | reimbursement of their reasonable costs incurred to |
