| 1 | | AN ACT concerning homeless shelters.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
| 5 | | Feminine Hygiene Products for the Homeless Act.
|
| 6 | | Section 5. Access to feminine hygiene products. Feminine |
| 7 | | hygiene products, including, but not limited to, sanitary |
| 8 | | napkins, tampons, and panty liners, shall be available free of |
| 9 | | charge at all homeless shelters that provide temporary housing |
| 10 | | assistance to women or youth. A homeless shelter's
obligation |
| 11 | | to satisfy the requirement of this Section is
subject to the |
| 12 | | availability of funds in the homeless shelter's
general |
| 13 | | budget. As used in this Act, "homeless shelter" means a |
| 14 | | supervised publicly or privately operated shelter designed to |
| 15 | | provide temporary living accommodations to individuals who |
| 16 | | lack a fixed, regular, and adequate residence.
