|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 5-101 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (220 ILCS 5/5-101) (from Ch. 111 2/3, par. 5-101)

| 7 | | Sec. 5-101. Required disclosures. |
| 8 | | (a) Every public utility shall furnish to the Commission |
| 9 | | all
information required by it to carry into effect the |
| 10 | | provisions of this Act,
and shall make specific answers to all |
| 11 | | questions submitted by the Commission.
|
| 12 | | (b) Any public utility receiving from the Commission any |
| 13 | | blanks with
directions to fill the same, shall cause the same |
| 14 | | to be properly filled out
so as to answer fully and correctly |
| 15 | | each question therein propounded, and
in case it is unable to |
| 16 | | answer any question, it shall give a good and
sufficient |
| 17 | | reason for such failure; and said answer shall be verified |
| 18 | | under
oath by the president, secretary, superintendent or |
| 19 | | general manager of such
public utility and returned to the |
| 20 | | Commission at its office within the
period fixed by the |
| 21 | | Commission.
|
| 22 | | (c) Whenever required by the Commission, every public |
| 23 | | utility shall deliver
to the Commission, any or all maps, |

| 1 | | profiles, reports, documents, books,
accounts, papers and |
| 2 | | records in its possession, or in any way relating to
its |
| 3 | | property or affecting its business, and inventories of its |
| 4 | | property, in
such form as the Commission may direct, or |
| 5 | | verified copies of any or all of
the same.
|
| 6 | | (d) Every public utility shall obey and comply with each |
| 7 | | and every requirement
of this Act and every order, decision, |
| 8 | | direction, rule or regulation made or
prescribed by the |
| 9 | | Commission in the matters herein specified, or any other
|
| 10 | | matter in any way relating to or affecting its business as a |
| 11 | | public
utility, and shall do everything necessary or proper in |
| 12 | | order to secure
compliance with and observance of this Act and |
| 13 | | every such order, decision,
direction, rule or regulation by |
| 14 | | all of its officers, agents and employees.
|
| 15 | | (e) Upon a reasonable request by one of its customers, a |
| 16 | | public utility shall provide the customer with documents or |
| 17 | | other information related to: |
| 18 | | (1) the information provided in subsection (c) of this |
| 19 | | Section as it relates to reports, documents, papers, and |
| 20 | | records in its possession in any way relating to its |
| 21 | | property and inventories of its property; or |
| 22 | | (2) rates as last reported to the Commission as |
| 23 | | required under Section 9-102. |
