| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2574 on page 1, |
| 3 | | line 19, after "responsible.", by inserting: |
| 4 | | "A paramedic or firefighter may use the authority under this |
| 5 | | Section only when acting in accordance with policy established |
| 6 | | by the employing fire department or fire protection district. |
| 7 | | This policy shall require, at a minimum, that a paramedic or |
| 8 | | firefighter who removes an animal from a motor vehicle under |
| 9 | | this Section shall remain on the scene with the animal until an |
| 10 | | animal control officer or a law enforcement officer can take |
| 11 | | possession of the animal. If the owner takes possession, the |
| 12 | | paramedic or firefighter must report the incident to local law |
| 13 | | enforcement or animal control.".
