| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Local |
| 5 | | Volunteer Board Member Removal Act.
|
| 6 | | Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act: |
| 7 | | "Board" means a volunteer board or commission of a |
| 8 | | governing or administrative body of a unit of local |
| 9 | | government.
|
| 10 | | "Member" means an appointed member of a board serving |
| 11 | | without compensation, other than reimbursement for actual |
| 12 | | expenses.
|
| 13 | | Section 10. Removal of volunteer board members.
|
| 14 | | (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the person |
| 15 | | or entity that appointed a member of a board may remove that |
| 16 | | member for misconduct, official misconduct, or neglect of |
| 17 | | office.
|
| 18 | | (b) Removal under this Section is in addition to any other |
| 19 | | method of removal provided by law.
|
| 20 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 21 | | becoming law.
