AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3126 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3126 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
 
4    "Section 5. The 2-1-1 Service Act is amended  by adding 
5Section 31 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 1335/31 new)
7    Sec. 31. Cook County 2-1-1 services. 
8    (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act and 
9subject to the availability of funds as provided in subsection 
10(b), the Department of Human Services shall designate and 
11approve a public or nonprofit agency or other organization to 
12provide 2-1-1 services within the geographical area of Cook 
13County. The Department shall provide grants to the approved 
142-1-1 service provider to:
15        (1) design, develop, and implement 2-1-1 services for 
16    the Cook County service area;

1        (2) provide and evaluate on an ongoing basis 2-1-1 
2    service delivery to the Cook County service area; and
3        (3) enable the provision of 2-1-1 services to the Cook 
4    County service area on a 24-hour-per-day, 7-day-per-week 
5    basis. 
6    (b) Implementation of this Section is contingent on the 
7availability of funds provided for this purpose by  (i) the 
8Department, (ii) the public or nonprofit agency or other 
9organization approved to provide 2-1-1 services within the 
10geographical area of Cook County, and (iii) other governmental 
11agencies involved in the provision of 2-1-1 services.".
