| 1 | | AN ACT concerning education.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 27-23.15 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/27-23.15 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 27-23.15. Gun safety. A school district may offer its |
| 8 | | students a course on gun safety as part of its curriculum |
| 9 | | during the school day or as part of an after-school program. |
| 10 | | The State Board of Education may prepare and make available to |
| 11 | | school boards resources on gun safety that may be used as |
| 12 | | guidelines for the development of a course under this Section.

| 13 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 14 | | becoming law.
