| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 11-5.2-5 as follows:
|

| 7 | | Sec. 11-5.2-5. Community policing centers; grants. |
| 8 | | (a) The corporate authorities of a municipality may |
| 9 | | provide for the establishment or maintenance of community |
| 10 | | policing centers, or may enter into contractual agreements |
| 11 | | with other entities for the establishment or maintenance of |
| 12 | | community policing centers, in high crime areas. |
| 13 | | (b) The Department of Human Services shall provide grants |
| 14 | | of $100,000, subject to appropriation, to municipalities for |
| 15 | | the establishment or maintenance of community policing |
| 16 | | centers. The Department shall adopt rules relating to the |
| 17 | | application process and eligibility requirements to receive |
| 18 | | such grants.
