AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4203 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4203 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the 
5Elimination of Racially Derogatory Language Act.
 
6    Section 5. Definitions.  As used in this Act:

7    "Public body" means a legislative, executive, 
8administrative, or advisory body of this State, a State 
9university or community college, a county, township, 
10municipality, school district, or  any other municipal 
11corporation, board, bureau, committee, or commission of this 
12State, any subsidiary body of any of the foregoing, including, 
13but not limited to, a committee or subcommittee thereof, or a 
14School Finance Authority created under Article 1E of the 
15School Code.

16    "Racial slur" means any word or phrase used as an

1insulting and contemptuous or otherwise negative term for a 
2racial or ethnic group.

 
3    Section 10. Display of racially derogatory language 
4prohibited.  No public body may display any racially derogatory 
5language, including racial slurs, within its building, on its 
6property, or at a public meeting at any time.".
