| 1 | | AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 7-174.5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (40 ILCS 5/7-174.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 7-174.5. Leaves of absence for trustees. Each |
| 8 | | participating municipality or instrumentality that employs an |
| 9 | | employee who is an elected trustee shall make available to the |
| 10 | | elected trustee at least 20 days of paid leave of absence per |
| 11 | | year for the purpose of attending meetings of the Board of |
| 12 | | Trustees, committee meetings of the Board of Trustees, and |
| 13 | | seminars regarding issues for which the Board of Trustees is |
| 14 | | responsible. The Fund may reimburse affected participating |
| 15 | | municipalities and instrumentalities for the actual cost of |
| 16 | | hiring a substitute employee during such leaves of absence.

| 17 | | Section 90. The State Mandates Act is amended by adding |
| 18 | | Section 8.46 as follows:
