| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 27-24.9 as follows:

| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/27-24.9) |
| 7 | | Sec. 27-24.9. Driver education standards. The State Board |
| 8 | | of Education, in consultation with the Secretary of State, an |
| 9 | | association representing teachers of driver education, |
| 10 | | students, education practitioners, including, but not limited |
| 11 | | to, teachers in colleges of education, administrators, and |
| 12 | | regional superintendents of schools, shall adopt rigorous |
| 13 | | learning course content standards for the classroom and |
| 14 | | laboratory phases of driver education for novice teen drivers |
| 15 | | those persons under the age of 18 years, including, but not |
| 16 | | limited to, the Novice Teen Driver Education and Training |
| 17 | | Administrative Standards developed and written by the |
| 18 | | Association of National Stakeholders in Traffic Safety |
| 19 | | Education in affiliation with the National Highway |
| 20 | | Transportation Safety Administration. The learning standards |
| 21 | | may be adapted to meet Illinois licensing and educational |
| 22 | | requirements, including the cognitive, physiological, and |
| 23 | | psychological aspects of , which shall include the safe |
