AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5001




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5001 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
 
4    "Section 5. The Department of Human Services Act is 
5amended  by adding Section 1-75 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 1305/1-75 new)
7    Sec. 1-75. Grants; day care facilities; children of   first 
8responders.
9    (a) As used in this Section, "first responder" includes: 
10(1) emergency medical services personnel as defined in the 
11Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act; (2)  
12firefighters; and (3) law enforcement officers. 
13    (b) Subject to appropriation, the Department of Human 
14Services shall establish and administer a 2-year pilot program 
15in the cities of Rockford, Peoria, Bloomington, Rock Island,

16Moline,  and East Moline
to provide grants to licensed day care

1facilities that (1)  are open 24 hours a day and (2) give 
2priority to serving the children of first responders.  Grants 
3provided under the pilot program must be used to provide 
4subsidized child care services to the children of first 
5responders. Day care facilities seeking grants under the pilot 
6program must apply to the Department in a form and manner 
7prescribed by the Department. The Department may adopt any 
8rules necessary to implement the pilot program. 
  
 

9    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 
102022.".
