| 1 | | AN ACT concerning education.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 9-11.3 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/9-11.3 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 9-11.3. North Chicago School District 187 elections. |
| 8 | | (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the |
| 9 | | contrary, the chairperson of the Independent Authority for |
| 10 | | North Chicago School District 187 shall, for the school
board |
| 11 | | of North Chicago School District 187, pick 3 members whose |
| 12 | | terms shall end once their successors are elected and |
| 13 | | qualified at the 2023 consolidated election and 4 members |
| 14 | | whose terms shall end once their successors are elected and |
| 15 | | qualified at the 2025 consolidated election. |
| 16 | | (b) If an appointed member refuses to relinquish his or |
| 17 | | her position after his or her successor is elected and |
| 18 | | qualified under subsection (a), then the State Board of |
| 19 | | Education may take any action needed to remove that appointed |
| 20 | | member.

| 21 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 22 | | becoming law.
