Amends the Courses of Study Article of the School Code. Requires that a course that provides a student with the education and skills required to obtain a commercial learner's permit or a commercial driver's license be considered by a school district to be a career and technical education course. Effective immediately.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 27-23.17 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/27-23.17 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 27-23.17. Commercial driver education. A course that |
| 8 | | provides a student with the education and skills required to |
| 9 | | obtain a commercial learner's permit or a commercial driver's |
| 10 | | license shall be considered by a school district to be a career |
| 11 | | and technical education course.

| 12 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 13 | | becoming law.
