| 1 | | AN ACT concerning regulation.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 9-112.6 as follows: |
| 6 | | (605 ILCS 5/9-112.6 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 9-112.6. Vegetation control permit. |
| 8 | | (a) The Department may provide for vegetation control on |
| 9 | | land or a right-of-way under its jurisdiction related to the |
| 10 | | visibility of a permitted or registered outdoor advertising |
| 11 | | sign or grant a permit for such work. |
| 12 | | (b) The Department may issue rules to provide the |
| 13 | | standards and procedures for vegetation control, including, |
| 14 | | but not limited to, permit applications, permits, revocations, |
| 15 | | and the requirements for the replacement of vegetation and |
| 16 | | landscaping removal to establish clear visibility zones of |
| 17 | | signs along highways in the State under its jurisdiction. |
| 18 | | (c) The Department shall allow the cutting or trimming of |
| 19 | | vegetation to clear a visibility zone 250 feet in front of a |
| 20 | | single-sided sign and 250 feet in front of each side of a |
| 21 | | double-sided sign. The visibility zone for signs shall also |
| 22 | | include an additional 250-foot triangular section measured |
| 23 | | diagonally from the edge of the right-of-way to the edge of |
