AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5577 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5577 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:


 
 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended  by adding Section 
524-8.2 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/24-8.2 new)
7    Sec. 24-8.2. Minimum salary for certain employees.
8    (a) In this Section, "employee" means any employee of the 
9school district who provides educational support services to 
10the district, including, but not limited to, custodial 
11employees, transportation employees, food service providers, 
12classroom assistants, administrative staff, or 
13paraprofessional educators as defined in subparagraph (J) of 
14paragraph (2) of Section 21B-20.
15    (b) In fixing salaries of employees, school boards shall 
16pay to employees an hourly rate not less than the following:

1(i) $20 for the 2022-2023 school year; (ii) $21 for the 
22023-2024 school year; and (iii) $22 for the 2024-2025 school 
3year. The minimum hourly rate for each school year thereafter 
4shall equal the minimum salary rate for the previous school 
5year increased by a percentage equal to the percentage 
6increase, if any, in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban 
7Consumers for all items published by the United States 
8Department of Labor for the previous school year. 
 
 
9    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
10becoming law.".
