| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General |
| 3 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to the truly great individuals |
| 4 | | who have served our country and our communities; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Family, friends, and the City of Aurora mourn the |
| 6 | | death of Korean War veteran, former firefighter, and real |
| 7 | | estate developer Daniel Dolan Sr., who passed just two days |
| 8 | | after his 89th birthday; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Dolan graduated from East Aurora High |
| 10 | | School in 1949 and was a lifelong Tomcat and 'Old Timer'; he |
| 11 | | served in the Navy aboard the USS Knapp destroyer during the |
| 12 | | Korean War; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, A mailman who once sold pots and pans on the side, |
| 14 | | Daniel Dolan helped establish Dolan & Murphy Inc. during the |
| 15 | | 1960s in collaboration with James O. Murphy; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Beyond his decades of success in real estate, |
| 17 | | Daniel Dolan had an impact on generations of Aurorans through |
| 18 | | his philanthropy, generosity, and selfless service; he was |
| 19 | | proud of his involvement with Aurora Boys Little League |
| 20 | | Baseball for over 50 years and Fast Pitch Softball; Dolan & |
| 21 | | Murphy Inc. sponsored the Shamrocks for over 35 years and was |

| 1 | | inducted into the International Softball Congress Hall of Fame |
| 2 | | in August of 2016; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Dolan is survived by his children, Daniel |
| 4 | | T. Dolan (Stevie Daleiden), Brian (Kathy) Dolan, Ryan |
| 5 | | (Maritza) Dolan, and Kara (John) Laudi; eight grandchildren, |
| 6 | | 11 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; |
| 7 | | his brother, Jim (Jean) Dolan; his former wife, JoAnne Dolan; |
| 8 | | and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
|
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 10 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE |
| 11 | | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the section of |
| 12 | | Route 31 in the City of Aurora that runs from East Illinois |
| 13 | | Avenue to East Indian Trail Road as the "Dan Dolan Way"; and be |
| 14 | | it further
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
|
| 16 | | is requested to erect, at suitable locations consistent with
|
| 17 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
|
| 18 | | giving notice of the name of the "Dan Dolan Way"; and be it |
| 19 | | further
|
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to the family of Dan Dolan, the Mayor of Aurora, and |
| 22 | | the Secretary of Transportation.
